Steve started playing music when he was 18 years old. While in college in Gainesville, Florida he met John Vilardo--the first person he ever jammed with. At about the same time, he got a new roomate by the name of Ben Andrews, a country-blues-ragtime guitarist from Washington, DC. "Ben turned me on to the great country bluesmen like Charley Patton, Robert Johnson, Bukka White, and Leadbelly... to name a few," says Arvey.
